Addiction

There are few things I'm addicted to, for instance I don't really like drinking or smoking, and I do enjoy chocolate here and there. But I don't really need an everyday 'fix' for such things. I can go for months, even years without alcohol. However there is this show on BBC called Eastenders and I NEED to watch it every time I know a new show has been taped. It airs every night with the exception of Wednesdays and weekends. It's been on the air since 1985. I'd have to admit, this is the only show I've been addicted to since 'I Love Lucy.'

There's really nothing great about Eastenders at first glance. Even the shows that are filmed in present-day look like they were filmed a decade ago. But what keeps me coming back is their depiction of families. Aside from murders, rape, and infidelity story lines, the heart of the matter in most episodes are themes that deal with family ties and togetherness. I seriously want to know what will happen to each 'clan' in forthcoming episodes. Aside from that, my friends here would say the show is, 'rubbish.' But trust me, it grows on you like fungus! And as Levar Burton would say on Reading Rainbow, 'you don't have to take MY word for it.

Moving Day

I was a bit of a tourist during my move. It was the first time I had ever crossed Tower Bridge and thought it was worthy of a few snaps. It's funny how a lot of people confuse this for London Bridge. I hired a 'man with a van' which cost 75 pounds plus tip. Getting to our meeting point was not a pleasant experience. What would've normally been a 17 minute train ride took two hours due to 'signal failure'.

When I finally decided to abandon my attempts at meeting my man with a van via train, I reserved a taxi from Addison Lee (my favorite taxi company in all of London!). They're amazing. You call in and they push a magic button and one appears when you need one! Ever since I've been using them they've been calling me Miss Florence Diaz. I figured, no need to correct them at this point as it could result in a painstakingly l-o-n-g administrative process. To say the least, the move took five hours including travel time but worth the view from my new pad.

Success!

Sound the trumpets, I found a flat in East London! I live on the top floor of a 5 storey building and I have a skyline view of Canary Wharf from my living room. Awesome to the max!
It's split level so the bedrooms are upstairs and the living room, kitchen, and dining area are down stairs. I'll post pics soon.
